Merrion Loves Rugby.
To celebrate Leeds Loves Rugby, the Merrion Centre in association with Leeds Rugby staged a fun filled event incorporating a catch and pass event with key Leeds Rhinos players (Brett Delaney and Luke Burgess)- free face painting fun for all, an appearance by the Radio Aire Dancers and of course the one and only Ronnie the Rhino. The event took place on Saturday 28th May from 11am-3pm.

Wear Something Funny for Money!
We couldn’t let Comic Relief pass us by without celebrating and ensuring we raised as much as possible for the event, so in the true spirit of Comic Relief we encouraged shoppers, tenants and the management team to “Wear Something Funny for Money”. We are pleased to announce that we raised a total of over £200 on the day!

Animal Magic @ The Merrion Centre
Wildlife and Exotic Animal Services recently appeared at the Merrion Centre, bringing their amazingly friendly creatures with them. Shoppers were so delighed with been able to feel a real life snake and see an actual Owl- it is fair to say that some were braver than others ( especially the youngsters). The event was such a hit at the Centre that Wildlife and Exotic Animal Services will now be appearing at the Merrion Centre on a monthly basis- next apperance at the Centre will be on Saturday 9th April.

A rowing Success
The Merrion Centre, recently joined forces with the British Heart Foundation to celebrate National Wear Red Day (25th February) - shoppers and tenants were encouraged to wear red and take part in a rowing challenge. We are pleased to announce we raised over £180 on the day!

LEAP for Joy
The LEAP Trade Fair is held at the Merrion Centre during the Months of February and December - with each individual stalls seling Valentine’s, festive or vintage gift ideas.
On each occasion a particular stall will be awarded the titile of ‘Best Trade Stand’ presented with a trophy and gift vouchers to spend in the Centre.
Whilst second place will all also receiving gift vouchers. Good luck to all competitors! -
Merrion Loves Shopping
To celebrate Leeds Loves shopping (an annual celebration of style in the city 14th-24th October 2011) we hosted the Centre’s very first fashion show, showcasing the Autumn/Winter range of our fashion retailers. It was a great day and we were also joined by Miss Leeds herself ( Rebecca Geldard).
A huge thank you to everyone that took part, see you the same time next year!

World Cup Fever
To celebrate the World Cup, shopper were given the opportunity to watch the match whilst they shopped.

Leeds Rhinos arrive at the Merrion Centre!
To celebrate the launch of the new Leeds Rugby Merchandise Store, a launch was help in the Centre on Saturday 12th March with Ronnie the Rhino, the Radio Aire Dancers - some of the Leeds Rhinos players were also on hand to sign autographs and for shoppers to have their pictures taken with them.

Valentine’s Day Treats!
To get everyone in the mood for Valentine’s Day, the Merrion Centre gave away FREE Thorntons chocolates to shoppers on Saturday 12th and Monday 14t! If you were not one of the lucky ones make sure you visit the Centre same time next year to get your hands on some delicious treats!

Leeds Best Amatuer Baker Annouced!
A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the Merrion Centre’s Baking Competition in aid of Children in Need. A great day was had by all and lots of money was raised for a great cause.
The competition was opened to everyone (shoppers, tenants, staff and colleagues), There were three categories within the Bake Off, Biscuits & Brownies, Cupcakes & Buns and Large Cakes. Congratulations to Joanne Allen (from Inches) who won the large cakes category, Alison Levelle winner of the biscuits & brownies category & Jo Medland winner of the cupcakes & buns category. Jo Medland was also the overall winner and was crowned Leeds Best Amateur Baker 2010. A huge thank you to Rena Gueller (The Box Tree) and the rest of our judges for a fantastic day.

Ray of Sunshine Coach!
In July, Town Centre Securities and the Merrion Centre presented a new Sunshine Coach to the Variety Club of Great Britain. The keys were presented to the Chairty by Majorie Ziff MBE.

Merrion Loves Food
To celebrate the Leeds Loves Food festival Lesley Waters (one of the most successful female chefs) entertained visitors with a cookery demonstration on the malls.
A free food tasting event with key food retailers also took place which included; a taste of the East with Maliks restaurant, chocolate heaven with Thornton’s, pastries and treats with Cooplands and free milkshake sampling with Shakeaholics.
