Bengal Brasserie Spices Up Life at the Merrion Centre

Bengal Brasserie’s flagship restaurant is celebrating the completion of its first year as part of the Merrion Centre, becoming one of the Arena Quarter’s most popular eateries.

Bengal Brasserie’s Merrion Centre eatery is the largest restaurant within the group, with other venues located in York and Wetherby.

It is renowned for its traditional Indian and Bengali cuisine, and has already been awarded the “Best Indian Restaurant” and shortlisted for the “Best Service” category in the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Oliver Awards.

Other highlights from its bumper first year include executive chef, Mohon Miah, creating a special “Rogan Josh Warrington” curry following a visit from the undefeated lightweight Leeds celebrity boxer, Josh Warrington.

The dish was created ahead of the boxer’s win against competitor, Dennis Ceylan, and remains a firm favourite on the extensive menu.

Malik Dobir, director of Bengal Brasserie, said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating our first birthday at the Merrion Centre.

Our success is due to the hard work of our team and the loyal support of our customers and visitors. Our chef prides himself on the quality of our food, using locally-sourced produce and choosing only the best ingredients.

“Customer service is of paramount importance to us, and we treat all our visitors like family.

When we were looking for the best place for our flagship restaurant we knew the Merrion Centre was the perfect choice because of its ideal location in Leeds city centre opposite the First Direct Arena.

As a way to mark the occasion, we ordered a huge cake and offered slices to all our customers and employees.

We’re incredibly grateful for their positive feedback and support over the last 12 months and are looking forward to even better second year!”

Helen Green, Associate Director for Town Centre Securities (TCS), said: “The Merrion Centre is proud to be a great dining destination within Leeds for a diverse array of international foods including My Thai, Fuji Hiro and Marco’s New York Italian.

“Bengal Brasserie has been a hallmark of Leeds’ vibrant restaurant scene for decades and we are thrilled with the success they have experienced at the Merrion Centre since they joined us.

The online reviews speak for themselves, and it is a great accolade for the team to be further recognised by winning high profile awards for their food and service.”
