Merrion Centre Gets Set for Biggest Christmas Yet

On Friday 10th November, the Merrion Centre will launch its largest-ever Christmas celebration, welcoming a host of TV and sport stars to officially launch the countdown to the big day.
The Merrion Centre will be filled with a host of famous guests including Leeds Rhino’s Rob Burrow, Stevie Ward, Jamie Jones Buchanan and Cameron Smith as well as a number of first team players from Leeds United’s Championship squad. For the younger ones, TV favourites Ben and Holly will be making the Merrion Centre their home for the day and will be on hand to meet with children and pose for pictures.
To ensure that people of all ages can enjoy the festive fun the event will begin at 3.30pm, where a DJ will get the Christmas party started. The Merrion Centre’s Christmas lights will be officially switched on at 5.45pm.
As well as the opportunity to MEET BEN & HOLLY and enjoy free samples from Merrion Centre’s leading food, drink and leisure brands, visitors can enter a competition to enjoy VIP treatment courtesy of Merrion Centre. Competition winners will enjoy a private meet with Ben and Holly from 6.30pm to 7.10pm, plus have the opportunity of a professional photograph with the pair and be able to take home a fun-filled goody bag.
For those looking for something to keep out the winter chill, a mulled wine and waffle stand is also being added to the main shopping mall on the day.
Throughout the lead up to Christmas, youngsters can enjoy Merrion Centre’s famous LED lit giant festive bauble while parents can take advantage of a FREE SANTA’S GROTTO from 18th November. This year the city’s longest-established shopping centre will also have the addition of a festive, winter garden with a MAGICAL POST BOX for posting those all-important letters to Santa.
James Broughton, Head of Marketing & PR of Town Centre Securities, the owner of the Merrion Centre, said: “Next week will see the Christmas lights switch on in Leeds and we want to continue the feel-good festive spirit and get our own celebrations started with a huge party!
“Last year was a fantastic year for us, our most successful Christmas ever and with so many great new additions to the centre’s mix of retail and leisure outlets we’re confident that this year it’ll be even bigger.
“We know what a busy time of year it will be for parents, so we’ve made sure that there will be plenty for little ones to enjoy, but we’re also ensuring that parents can have fun and join in the celebrations as well. We hope lots of people will come down and join us on the 10th November and help us start the countdown to the best time of the year.”
The centre will have a full party atmosphere throughout the afternoon and evening with lots for visitors to see and enjoy including’ a performance by Britain’s Got Talent dance troupe Scandalous Productions and up and coming singer Thomas Teago.
