Counting Down the Days to the Merrion Centre’s Easter Egg-stravaganza

With just a few days to go, the Merrion Centre is gearing up for its biggest-ever Easter celebration. The centre is hosting a range of free activities for people of all ages between the 30th March and the 7th April.

The events are receiving lots of attention on social media, and some spaces for activities are filling up fast. Events on offer include arts and crafts, Mini Me dance and movement sessions, and live storytelling sessions featuring Peter Rabbit.

As proud partners of the Leeds Child Friendly Scheme, the Merrion Centre is encouraging its youngest visitors to get creative and have some fun.

The centre is kicking its busy Easter programme off with free arts and crafts on Saturday 30th March. An arts workshop station will be set up in the main mall’s recently-added garden area.

Children can have fun creating cards to take home as an Easter gift. For the little ones wanting to show off their creations, the Merrion Centre is hosting an interactive art display for children to pin their pieces to.

The Merrion Centre is also bringing back its popular free ‘Mini Me Time’ and has 200 confirmed attendees thus far. The sessions will include soft play, movement, dancing and singing classes for children aged six months to five years of age.

The Mini Me Easter Party will incorporate the award-winning Mini Groovers and Movers sessions and is a fantastic way for parents and children to bond.

As part of the Every Child Matters (ECM) government initiative, Mini Me Time works in partnership with the local Leeds community, holding sessions in children’s centres and schools as well as the Merion Centre. The sessions boost toddlers’ confidence by getting them moving and interacting with others.

To coincide with release of the new Peter Rabbit film, the Merrion Centre is inviting the star of the film to host storytelling sessions. Over one thousand people have registered their interest to the event online.

James Broughton, Head of Marketing & PR for Town Centre Securities (TCS), owner of the Merrion Centre, said:

“We’re excited to be hosting a great range of Easter activities for both parents and children. We’ve had a great response so far from parents reaching out to find out more, and our tenants are looking forward to this busy time of year for retailers.

Peter Rabbit is a classic tale, and we’re excited to bring the Easter Bunny to life with storytelling sessions and meet and greet sessions. With the release of the film, parents and children and clearly excited to get involved—we’ve had close to 200 shares and 1.2k interested in the Peter Rabbit event online.

“In previous years, the Mini Me movement to music sessions have proved to be very popular. We have 200 confirmed visitors and we look forward to our mall being packed once again with mini movers and groovers!

The arts and crafts station will also give busy Mums and Dads the opportunity to meet other parents whilst their children get creative. The Merrion Centre boasts a great selection of affordable shops such as The Works, Poundworld, Home Bargains and Wilko’s for parents to purchase supplies to continue the arts and crafts at home. We want to inspire parents and children to forge their creative spirit this Easter.

We work hard to ensure that we always host exciting events for our visitors to enjoy alongside our great selection of shops and eateries. Our success is thanks to our visitors and we hope to see a lot of happy faces this Easter.”
