Marco Pierre White makes homecoming visit to new Leeds restaurant
Fri 16 Jun, 2017
Marco Pierre White has returned to his home city today, for an official launch event celebrating the opening of his new city centre restaurant, Marco’s New York Italian.
The invite-only event saw the Leeds-born celebrity chef meet and greet VIP guests, when he visited the restaurant on Friday 16 June.
The Marco’s New York Italian Leeds restaurant opened to the public in April this year, alongside the newly opened ibis Styles hotel in the city’s Arena Quarter, as part of the Merrion Centre’s multi-million pound revival.
Marco Pierre White, who has just returned from filming Hell’s Kitchen Down Under in Australia, said:
“I’m delighted we are finally open and welcoming guests.
“I’ve just returned from filming in Australia so it was my first visit to the restaurant. It was great to join the team and find out how the first couple of months have been.”
The 88-seater restaurant is Marco Pierre White’s first Leeds restaurant, offering diners a menu of New York inspired Italian dishes, such as Baked New York Italian Meatballs, Seared Seabream with Caponata and New Orleans Crab Cakes.
Lisa Sutcliffe, general manager of Marco’s New York Italian Leeds, said: “We were so excited to welcome Marco Pierre White to the restaurant today.
“It’s a real honour to be operating his first Leeds restaurant and to give our guests the chance to meet the Godfather of British cuisine themselves.”
