My Thai Undergoes Transformation on the Back of Merrion Success
Tue 14 Feb, 2017
Two years after it first opened its doors, My Thai, Leeds’ first Thai street food restaurant, is celebrating its success by completely transforming the restaurant on Wade Lane, expanding its size, introducing a brand-new menu, increasing its opening hours and creating new jobs.
From February 13th, diners will be treated to a redesigned My Thai that offers an even more enjoyable dining experience with additional space and seating. The revamped décor will transport diners to Thailand for a traditional Thai eating experience. Some of the decoration has also been inspired by the recently deceased King Bhumipol of Thailand. The increase in size of the restaurant means it is also looking to create new permanent roles within the business.
The decision to transform My Thai comes following two years of phenomenal success at the restaurant which forms part of the Merrion Centre. It has enjoyed huge visitor numbers, and sits at the sought-after No.1 position on Trip Advisor for Thai restaurants in Leeds. The owners of My Thai are now expanding out into other restaurants outside of Leeds but its Wade Lane venue will act as the concept design for all of its other restaurants.
To celebrate its success and the grand opening of the new look restaurant, My Thai will hold a traditional Tam Boon, a Thai blessing ceremony, with members of the Thai community and customers invited to celebrate the new look and sample the menus.
Simon Grybas and Bee Latham, co-owners of the Merrion Centre My Thai restaurant, said: “We have been made to feel incredibly welcome in Leeds and welcomed so many great customers that we thought it was time to relaunch with an exciting new look and menu.
“When we opened our restaurant two years ago, we were just two people who wanted to introduce our love of Thai food to others. Our mission was to serve great food at good prices, and we’re so pleased that so many have enjoyed our offering – and kept coming back! We’re really looking forward to launching our new look restaurant and hope lots of new and existing customers will come and see the changes we have made, and sample some of the new dishes on offer.”
Helen Green, Associate Director of Town Centre Securities, said: “We are always delighted to hear of the success of our tenants, so to see My Thai going from strength-to-strength and now expanding its offering makes us incredibly proud.
“At the Merrion Centre, we pride ourselves on offering a diverse range of shops, restaurants and leisure outlets. My Thai is a fantastic example of how we have been able to bring something that was completely new to visitors and give them the chance to try a very different eating experience.
“The next few months are going to be really exciting for us as the investment we have made in our car park and the Wade Lane development all comes to fruition. With the opening of the new Ibis Styles Hotel, Marco’s New York Italian restaurant and of course the new My Thai, we’re looking forward to welcoming new visitors and letting them experience for themselves the fantastic new additions to the centre.”
