Bespoke Mural Celebrates Craft, Creativity and 30 Years of NBC at the Merrion Centre
Natural Born Cobblers (NBC) at the Merrion Centre has unveiled striking new bespoke artwork inside its store on the Woodhouse Lane entrance, created by Yorkshire-based mural artist Seran Jordan.
The large-scale piece celebrates craftsmanship, independence and the long-standing presence of NBC in the heart of Leeds.
Honouring Heritage and Craft
The mural, which took a full week to complete, features NBC owner Peter Lumb, who is also depicted actively practising his craft.
It incorporates Peter’s self-designed original NBC logo from 1996, bringing together the brand’s heritage with a contemporary artistic style.
NBC will mark 30 years at the Merrion Centre in 2026, including 13 years in its current Woodhouse Lane entrance location, and the new artwork stands as a visual tribute to that milestone.
Seran (instagram @SezzBezz), who began her creative journey as a graffiti artist, is known for bold, character-led murals that reflect the stories of people and places. This commission continues that ethos, capturing both the personality behind NBC and the skill that has defined the business for decades.
Peter Lumb, owner of Natural Born Cobblers, said:
“This mural is incredibly special to me. It tells the story of NBC – the craft, the history and the independence that’s kept us going for nearly 30 years here at Merrion.
“Seeing my original logo from 1996 and being shown doing the work I love makes it very personal. Seran has absolutely nailed it.”
Artist Seran Jordan added:
“Coming from a graffiti background, I’ve always loved creating work that feels rooted in real people and real places. NBC is a Leeds institution, and Peter’s passion for his craft really comes through.
“This piece is about skill, longevity and pride in doing things properly – and it was a privilege to bring that story to the space.”
