OPENS FRIDAY 15th NOVEMBER….Wei’s Malatang To Bring Tasty New Street Food Concept to Leeds

The Merrion Centre is turning up the heat with the announcement of the arrival of Wei’s Malatang, an exciting new venue bringing authentic Asian hotpot to Leeds.

Set to open from Friday 15th November 2024, Wei’s Malatang will be located inside the bustling Chatime café on Woodhouse Lane, offering locals and students a unique, customisable dining experiences.

Welcome to Wei’s…

Specialising in Malatang, a popular Chinese street food, Wei’s Malatang allows customers to select their own skewered ingredients—ranging from meats and seafood to vegetarian options —before having them cooked in a spicy broth. With both dine-in seating for up to 23 people and takeaway options, the venue will also offer delivery via Hungry Panda and Deliveroo, catering to busy students and professionals alike.

Commenting on the significance of the new addition, Charles Newman, Associate Director, Estates at Town Centre Securities PLC, owners of the Merrion Centre, said:

“We’re thrilled to welcome Wei’s Malatang to the Merrion Centre. The Arena Quarter is renowned for its vibrant and diverse dining options, and this latest addition will provide a fresh, exciting concept that’s perfectly suited to our international student community and the wider public. It’s another step forward in our mission to make the Merrion Centre the go-to destination for unique dining and retail experiences in Leeds.”

Vincent Deng, Chatime manager and business developer for the new venue added:

“Leeds is a fantastic city with a rich student culture, and we knew the Merrion Centre was the right place for the addition of Wei’s Malatang. We can’t wait to introduce locals and students to the flavours of Malatang and offer them a new, casual way to enjoy hotpot dining.”

Spanning 1,104 sq.ft across two floors, the new venue will create up to eight new jobs and aims to complement the already popular Chatime Bubble Tea café. All ingredients at Wei’s Malatang are Halal, ensuring the menu is inclusive for a wide range of dietary preferences.

Further details about the opening will be announced soon, but one thing is certain—things are about to get hotter at the Merrion Centre
