Marco Pierre White set to make homecoming visit to new Leeds restaurant

Marco Pierre White is set to return to his home city this month, for an official launch event celebrating the opening of his new city centre restaurant, Marco’s New York Italian.

The invite-only event will see the Leeds-born celebrity chef meet and greet guests, when he visits the restaurant on Friday 16 June.
The Marco’s New York Italian Leeds restaurant opened to the public in April this year, alongside the newly opened ibis Styles hotel in the city’s Arena Quarter, as part of the Merrion Centre’s multi-million pound revival.

Marco Pierre White, who has just returned from filming Hell’s Kitchen Down Under in Australia, said:

“It has been a long time coming and I’m delighted we are finally open and welcoming guests.

“I’ve just returned from filming in Australia so it will be my first visit to the restaurant.

I’m really looking forward to joining the team and finding out how the first couple of months have been.”

The 88-seater restaurant is Marco Pierre White’s first Leeds restaurant, offering diners a menu of New York inspired Italian dishes, such as Baked New York Italian Meatballs, Seared Seabream with Caponata and New Orleans Crab Cakes.

Lisa Sutcliffe, general manager of Marco’s New York Italian Leeds, said: “We’re so excited to be welcoming Marco Pierre White to the restaurant later this month.

“It’s a real honour to be operating his first Leeds restaurant and to give our guests the chance to meet the Godfather of British cuisine themselves.”

The event, which starts at noon on Friday 16 June, is invitation only. For further details about Marco’s New York Italian Leeds, visit www.mpwrestaurants.co.uk
