Bulgogi Grill opening this Saturday

Bulgogi charges onto Leeds dining scene
Free bubbly for every customer in celebration of the opening

Bulgogi Grill at the Merrion Centre will introduce Leeds to a new culinary experience this Saturday 30th August at 6pm. As one of the most anticipated restaurants in the area, it’s offering all customers a free glass of bubbly in celebration of opening its doors in Merrion Centre’s Arena Quarter Leisure Development.

Set up by Adam Harris and Jason Kim Lee, Bulgogi Grill focuses on bringing authentic Korean BBQ meat direct to your table and is the only restaurant of its kind in Leeds. Customers are able to relish in grilling their own food on their own built in grill, which sits in the middle of their table.

With red leather seating and feature mosaic lighting on the walls, the restaurant has an oriental feel throughout. With the doors staying open until 2am on Arena nights, its not shying away from the late night concert crowd. Serving lunch and dinner, Bulgogi Grill will offer a mix of grilled meats including pork, beef and duck served in a signature Bulgogi marinade, as well as seabass, prawn and squid. Combined with Korean influenced side dishes and signature drinks, such as Suju, Korea’s signature rice liquor, the main aim is to bring a taste of East Asia to Leeds.

Adam Harris, founder, states; “The Merrion Centre is a very popular shopping destination and being located at the heart of the Arena Quarter means it’s an exciting place to be. We’ve already started taking lots of bookings, so it’s essential customers give us a call to a make a reservation. Many of the international students from China, Japan and Korea are already familiar with the concept and have shown enthusiasm and excitement about Bulgogi. We anticipate enticing office workers nearby as well as encouraging people who want a bit of a different dinning experience to give us a try; we’re confident they’ll be impressed. We will also be serving coffee and cake in the day, so shoppers are welcome to drop in for a well needed rest.”

Jason Kim Lee, who is originally from Korea, already runs a prosperous Korean BBQ restaurant in Cologne and is hoping to replicate much of the success he’s experienced here in Leeds. This restaurant has created 10 local jobs and Jason has been sharing his in-depth inherit knowledge of the cuisine with each newly appointed employee.

Susan Mendoza, Merrion Centre Manager comments; “Not only is this style of restaurant a first for the Merrion Centre, it’s a first for Leeds too. We’ve been here for 50 years now and it’s wonderful to see how our culinary tastes and experiences have evolved. It’s a real honour that Bulgogi Grill has the Arena Quarter to launch its first UK venture. It will certainly compliment the existing Arena Quarter line up, which includes MFA Bowl, LAB bar, Pure Gym and The Proper Sandwich Company.”
