German Beer House Pops Up At the Merrion Centre
Wed 30 Nov, 2016
Jones Bar Group has forged ahead with its latest concept in the city centre and has opened a German Bierhaus in the Merrion Centre.
The Merrion Centre is now home to the German-themed drinking establishment ‘The Bierhaus’ which has taken up residence in the unit formally known as Marvin’s Pizza Parlour and will be in place for at least six months.
The German Bierhaus is serving a range of imported beers on draught and in bottles to visitors to the centre and those in search of refreshment after some busy Christmas shopping, and has been outfitted in a café bar style to create a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.
The venue on Merrion Way within the Arena Quarter was chosen by Jones Bar Groups as it satisfied their requirements for a venue with a creative edge that allowed them to develop and try new concepts.
Matthew Jones the Managing Director of Jones Bar Group said: “Following a recent trip to Germany I was blown away by the amazing range of biers available and its drinking culture and wanted to do something similar here in Leeds.
“We hope to show people that there is more to German bier than just a pilsner served in a stein glass. We have a nice range of different style biers on draught as well as a fairly sizable bottle selection.”
Helen Green, Associate Director of Town Centre Securities, the owner of the Merrion Centre, said: “We are really excited to welcome something completely different to the Merrion Centre with the latest conception from the team at Jones Bar Group. It’s a fantastic new addition to the range of leisure, shopping and dining facilities we already offer and at this time of year when people are looking for places to get together and enjoy a drink with friends and colleagues people know they have lots of choice at the Merrion Centre.”
