Merrion Centre has more customers in 2012

Here at the Merrion Centre we’ve seen over 7% more visitors over the last three months. With more than 10 percentage points up on the national average we’re dramatically bucking the UK trend of falling footfall figures.

We had the most customers during September with an 8.5% increase on last year and more than 787,500 shoppers visiting the centre.

In addition, the Merrion Centre is 98% full with a further 80% pre-let for the New Front Scheme opposite the Leeds Arena.

Helen Green, Associate Director for Town Centre Securities PLC who own and manage the Merrion Centre, said: \“At the Merrion Centre we are totally focussed on making the centre as good as it can be, and building its resilience to the current economic challenges.

\“During the course of this year, some fabulous new tenants have opened at the centre including KFC, Poundworld, Coral and Beat Bar.

\“We continue to be committed to giving added value to the customers shopping experience. We’ve had a range of themed events throughout the year and local sporting hero Nicola Adams even paid us a visit after the Olympics to celebrate her success with our shoppers. Right now we have a free Santa’s Grotto as well as regular entertainment from local schools, musicians and bands in the run up to Christmas.

Next year promises more challenges but we will still be working hard to deliver more new tenants, more investment and more events.”
