Merrion Centres LAB bar concocts free food and drink extravaganza
Fri 08 Aug, 2014
Cocktail lovers are in for a treat this Thursday as LAB bar opens its doors for the first time in the Merrion Centre’s Arena Quarter Leisure development.
The doors swing open at 4pm, with free food and drink on offer from 5 – 7pm. When entering, each customer will be given a free cocktail voucher plus another voucher for a drink of their choice. With a late licence of 3am, LAB is planning to party until the early hours and free food is up for grabs until it runs out, so don’t be fashionably late!
With a name like LAB bar, it’s not surprising there is a strong science theme running throughout the downstairs bar. Old microscopes are dotted around the interior and recycled oil drums are used for furniture. Upstairs, which is a dining area, gives a nod to the nearby Leeds First Direct Arena. The walls are adorned with concert pictures and memorabilia from the Arena.
Matthew Jones, MD, Jones Bar Group said; “This is our first city centre bar which will be open all day. This bar incorporates everything we love about our other eight bars across Leeds and we’re hopeful that Leeds locals will share our passion for it. Throughout our launch party we have musicians playing on our balcony, so along with the free food and drink we’re confident everyone will be entertained.”
This is the ninth bar for the locally owned Jones Bar Group. The opening has created 15 new jobs for the local area.
Susan Mendoza, Merrion Centre Manager comments; “The Arena Quarter is an increasingly bustling leisure destination and we’re confident that LAB bar will be inundated with our existing clientele and also bring in new customers. There are exciting things happening in the area and LAB bar adds something unique, as we don’t currently have anything similar. Not only is LAB bar great for show goers but also for our current customers who can pop in for a bite to eat at lunch time or visit for after work drinks, we can’t wait for the bar to open this Thursday.”
