Twelve Months of Smoking Success at the Merrion Centre

Smoke Barbeque is celebrating a very successful first year in Leeds and will be blowing out the candles on a birthday cake with a difference – a giant rack of ribs!

Last year, Smoke joined the Merrion Centre’s thriving Arena Quarter and has already served thousands of customers who have taken to its authentic Texas-inspired BBQ food and its warm, relaxed atmosphere.

To mark the completion of a great first year in Leeds Smoke wanted to celebrate by paying homage to the American eating challenges that helped inspire the restaurants theme and menu. Therefore, instead of a traditional birthday sponge cake the BBQ experts at Smoke created a giant rack of birthday ribs which were shared out with customers who were there to join in the birthday festivities.

Sean, co-owner of Smoke said: “It’s been a great twelve months for us as part of the Merrion Centre’s thriving arena quarter. We recognised that Leeds was a city on the move and an ideal location for one of our restaurants and we’ve loved being a part of such a great and iconic part of the city and will be looking to do even more over the next 12 months.

“As Smoke is partly inspired by American shows such as Man vs Food we thought what better way to celebrate our first birthday with a cake that can also double up as one big food challenge. Although we wanted to share this cake out with our customers if anyone fancies taking it on by themselves then they are welcome to visit the restaurant and try it!

Helen Green, Associate Director of Town Centre Securities said: “Smoke has been a fantastic addition to our Arena Quarter, its brought in the crowds and been a real point of difference for our visitors. We’re committed to bringing the most exciting restaurants and bars in the country to Leeds and ensuring it continues to thrive as a great location with a wide range of food and drink on offer.”
