Merrion Centre Welcomes Thousands to Celebrate the Year of the Dragon

The Merrion Centre is delighted to announce the resounding success of its first Lunar New Year celebration which focused on honouring Chinese culture and traditions.
The event, supported by the Business Confucius Institute at the University of Leeds, attracted an unprecedented surge in visitors, all eager to experience a colourful array of activities.
In addition, guests were able to indulge in the range of authentic Asian venues based at the Merrion Centre including the recently announced Meet Fresh, premium restaurant Blue Pavilion, Sing Kee Chinese Supermarket and authentic casual diner Eatime.
Over the course of the weekend, footfall statistics painted a remarkable picture of success, underscoring the Merrion Centre’s undeniable ongoing appeal and strong resonance within the local community.
A key highlight of the event was the collaboration with local Chinese Community Schools, including New Vision Education, Leeds Chinese Community School, and York Chinese Society.
Their participation brought a rich tapestry of performances, including mesmerizing Qi Lin Dances, enchanting Zither Performances, and energetic Dragon and Lion Dances.
These cultural showcases captivated audiences and created an atmosphere of joy and celebration

Following the great success of the event, the Merrion Centre is inviting customers to join them for a final celebration on Saturday 24th February between 11am – 2pm.
