We can ‘bearly’ wait to welcome lots of excited visitors to this years inaugural Leeds Bear Hunt, a remarkable FREE public art trail organised by Leeds Hospitals Charity!
‘About the Bear Hunt’…
‘Leeds Bear Hunt’ is taking place from 1st July to 9th Sept, the event will captivate the city with over 35 magnificently designed and oversized Bear sculptures located across Leeds including at the Merrion Centre!
Inspired by the beloved Bear from the renowned TV animation “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt,” based on the bestselling children’s book published by Walker Books.
‘If you go down to the Merrion Centre today’…
You’ll be sure of a ‘bear’ surprise, where you will be greeted by our ‘We Are Leeds’ Merrion Centre bear designed by artist Ekaterina Sheath, who designed each character based on people that walked past her whilst drawing in Leeds. The design celebrates diversity and equality, depicting the vibrant multicultural community of Leeds.
Are you ready to catch a big one? Download the Leeds Bear Hunt app to follow the trail and check off all the fantastic designed bears. Each bear has its own QR code for you to simply scan and learn more about the bear.
‘Round & Round the Centre like a Baby Bear’…
As part of this new initiative for 2023, local primary schools have also joined in the fun by designing their very own adorable bear cubs!
Keep your eyes peeled as you’ll find 4 of them hiding within the Merrion Centre including ‘Gordan’ from Best Family Childcare Nursery, ‘Batholomew’ from Chrubs Kindergarten, ‘Grylls’ from Fulneck School and ‘Bungle Bear’ from Gledhow Primary School!
