Merrion Centre Welcomes A Taste Of The Orient As Specialist Operators Open

The Merrion Centre in Leeds Arena Quarter has welcomed an additional duo of Oriental specialist venues – a high quality Korean/Japanese fusion restaurant and a hair salon owned and run by a seasoned stylist – giving customers even more choice.

Welcome to OBA Kitchen & Bar

Following the recent successful opening of authentic noodle bar, ‘Mi’s Noodles on Merrion Way, owners Hang Sing Hong (known as Leeds’ largest and long-established oriental food retailer), have opened their latest restaurant, OBA Kitchen & Bar on Wade Lane.

Whilst the informal Mi’s Noodles offers more traditional noodles and Chinese snacks, the more contemporary looking OBA Kitchen & Bar serves a fusion of Korean and Japanese dishes in more discerning surroundings.

Offering an extensive range of hot and cold vegan dishes, OBA is set to further expand on the existing, extensive choice of Oriental dining experiences across Leeds Arena Quarter.

Introducing ‘Hair By Gordon’

As well as the latest food and beverage offer, the Merrion Centre has also welcomed ‘Hair by Gordon who specialise in cutting, colouring and styling of both male and female Asian (Chinese) hair types at their new look salon on the upper balcony level.

Owner Gordon Sung, who graduated from Toni & Guy and Vidal Sassoon, has more than 20 years experience and has travelled around Asia presenting seminars for L’ Oreal, Wella, Schwarzkopf and TIGI.

Gordon has also worked as both a stylist and educator for Toni & Guy (HK).

Charles Newman, Associate Director, Estates at Town Centre Securities, owners of the Merrion Centre said:

“It’s fantastic to welcome this latest duo of businesses to the Merrion Centre and we’re confident their specialist offerings will prove popular with new and existing visitors including the increasing international student population within close proximity.

“The new OBA restaurant further complements our existing food and drink offering, specifically bringing a new wave of vegan dishes to further support our plans in creating a unique foodie destination.
