‘Meet’, ‘Connect’ and ‘Charge’ for free as The Merrion Centre launches new social space

The Merrion Centre, in the heart of Leeds thriving Arena Quarter has launched a brand-new purpose-built social space ‘The Green’.

Offering access to free Wi-Fi and charging points within a contemporary garden backdrop of giant deck chairs and ample seating, it invites visitors to ‘experience the great indoors’ and is the perfect place to ‘meet, connect and charge’ in a serene and creative space.

Residing for 6 months in a space on the main mall, ‘The Green’ will be looking to host regular activities across the Summer, including pop up refreshment stalls and wellbeing workshops.

Additionally, it offers the ever-growing number of office workers, students and families within the immediate vicinity a space to enjoy their own refreshments in the heart of the city.

This unique initiative was built on the back of a record breaking 2019 for the Merrion Centre who welcomed 15 new tenants including the already renowned Blue Sakura and several new national brands including PizzaExpress and Starbucks. Celebrating 11.2m visitors (+0.12%YOY) in 2019, increased footfall remains evident well into 2020 with the Merrion Centre continuing to be one of the busiest retail and leisure destinations in Leeds.

James Broughton, Head of Marketing & PR for Town Centre Securities PLC, owners of the Merrion Centre said:

“With the abundance of office tenants and student accommodation being built in the immediate vicinity, we have already seen an influx in new visitors to the Merrion Centre.

Whether it be workers looking for a relaxed space for their lunch break or students wishing to catch up on university work, ‘The Green’ is the perfect spot to ‘connect, meet and charge’.

We look forward to welcoming new and existing customers as we continue to provide even more places to ‘shop, eat, drink and be Merrion’ in the heart of Leeds.”
